Meaningful Day Services

The Arc Prince George’s County provides Meaningful Day supports that has a focus on assisting the person to become as independent as possible.

The Arc Prince George’s County has three Meaningful Day Programs providing supports for the Northern, Central, and Southern areas of Prince George’s County. These programs are located in Laurel, Largo, and Lanham, Maryland. The programs located in Laurel and Lanham are commununity-based five days a week. This means the people who are suppoted by these programs begin and end their days in the community.

The goal of The Arc’s Meaningful Day Program is to support community inclusion and provide exciting experiences for all individuals in the program(s). Supported by our Community Guides, the specialists and staff of each program offer a wide range of activities and community-inclusive excursions related to the arts, movement & dance, fitness, music, personal development skills & enhancements, and technology. Through community partnerships with arts and cultural organizations, fitness & recreation facilities, the Maryland-National Capitol Parks and Planning Commission, local businesses, and civic organizations, the people we support are provided with an excited range of outings and enrichment opportunties.

Families are the heart of The Arc! The family-centered Board of Directors makes regular visits to The Arc Day Programs and is an integral part of the organization’s quality assurance program. The Arc works diligently to ensure communication with individual families and welcomes family involvement.

The Arc is committed to supporting people with a wide spectrum of abilities and disabilities. Bridges is a unique day program that provides supports in a facility, as well as in the community, for persons living with significant medical complexities; physical, medical, and cognitive. The people supported in Bridges are the most medically challenged (i.e. vision or hearing impairments, quadriplegia, seizure disorders, and other conditions). Two full-time nurses support the individuals’ medical needs while a team of dedicated, creative, supportive, and caring staff provides activities that encourage physical exercise, enhance self-awareness and creativity, and promote social interaction. Small groups also attend community-inclusive activities throughout the country.
