When Crystal and Pauline joined The Arc in 1995, they likely didn’t imagine how much of an impact they would go on to have—or how many lives they would change along the way. Back then, The Arc looked different. Our programs were fewer, our resources more limited, but our mission was the same: to promote and protect the human rights of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and actively support their full inclusion and participation in the community.

From day one, Crystal and Pauline embraced this mission not as a job—but as a calling.

Known for her warmth, insight, and relentless dedication, Crystal Ali has long been a steady presence for the people we serve. She’s worked across multiple programs, always advocating for person-centered care, self-determination, and inclusive community engagement. “I’ve watched people go from needing support to leading others. That’s what makes this work so powerful,” Crystal shares.

Pauline Jannette Hutchinson is often described as calm, dependable, and deeply principled. Over the years, she’s become a go-to figure in our programs—not for accolades, but for action. She shows up, solves problems, and builds trust.
