Committees

We encourage all Arc Members to get involved in a committee. The Arc will benefit from your ideas and perspectives, and you will have the opportunity to meet and engage with other advocates for people with disabilities. Find out what is happening, share ideas, learn about new resources and develop supportive friendships. It’s win-win for all of us!

Governmental Affairs Committee
Working in concert with the Arc Maryland and The Arc US Governmental Affairs Committees, this committee reviews and makes recommendations to the Board of Directors on matters related to public policy at the local, state and national levels. It also works closely with other local and statewide affiliated advocacy and service providing organizations. The committee informs Arc members of critical issues faced by people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and facilitates member participation in voicing their concerns to public officials. The committee sponsors seminars, town meetings and other events related to public policy issues. Contact Bea Rodgers for details.

Residential Quality Support Committee
The Residential Quality Support Committee is made up of parents and siblings of people with developmental disabilities. This committee visits The Arc’s residential homes on a regular basis to provide constructive feedback on operations and ensures that all homes meet The Arc’s standards of excellence. This committee reviews and makes recommendations to the Board of Directors on all major policy matters related to The Arc Residential Services Division. Contact Kelly Shaner for details.

Golf Tournament Committee
Our annual golf tournament raises funds for programs and activities at The Arc. The Golf Committee helps plan and find sponsors for this fun-filled event. The Golf Tournament Committee is a subcommittee of the Resource Development Committee and meets at a time determined by committee members. Contact Quianne Perrin-Savoy for more information.

Finance Committee
The Finance Committee, a dedicated group of volunteers and board members, meets to review financial development and make recommendations to The Board of Directors. The committee meets on the third Friday of every month at 8:00 AM at The Arc Building, 1401 McCormick Drive, Largo. Contact Angela Sykes for details.
