The Maryland National Capital Park and Planning Commission, Special Programs Division Therapeutic Recreation is hosting an event designed for first-time campers, providing an opportunity for families to connect with nature and instill a love of the great outdoors. Interested in information about what Maryland is doing to develop an ABLE program? The first meeting of the Task Force on Maryland's ABLE Program is June 29, 2015. The Task Force was created to develop recommendations for how Maryland will implement the federal ABLE Act, which allows qualified people with disabilities to open savings accounts to pay for disability-related services without incurring certain tax penalties or losing eligibility for support services. Transition 101 is a series of workshops for families whose children are transitioning from school to adult services. Come to April's workshop where you will hear from Eric D Zimmerman (The Buddy Project, Inc.) and Roberta Medley (Towson University, Hussman Center Autism) about life after high school for people with autism. SPIRIT (Social Physical Interactive Respectful Inclusive Teamwork) Club is a weekly health and fitness program for adults with special abilities and needs that provides its members with exercise instruction, healthy snacks and take-home portfolios with nutritional guidance. This program will be held at The Arc Prince George's County Administrative Building on McCormick Drive every Monday.
