Respite Care
What is respite?
Respite services provide short-term care for people with developmental disabilities, enabling their regular caregivers to have a brief break.
The Arc's Respite House, located in Fort Washington, provides the highest level of care. All staff members are trained in CPR, First Aid, Medical Administration, and undergo a thorough background check. The house, open from 6 pm Friday to 6 pm Sunday, offers respite for up to three guests at a time. Three weekends each month are reserved for children; the second weekend of each month is reserved for adults. Guests participate in games, outings, arts and crafts, movies, and many other activities.
How do I receive respite services?
Respite Care hours are approved through the Department of Social Services (DSS). All guests must be approved to receive services from the DSS or have other means to pay for services. For more information about The Arc's Respite House, or to make a reservation for an adult, please contact Becky Carter at bcarter@thearcofpgc.org or at 301-925-7050, ext. 242.
