Day Services
What are Day Services?
The Arc's Day Services provide a meaningful day for men and women with developmental disabilities. Four programs are strategically located throughout the county in Laurel,Temple Hills, and two locations in Largo. All the Day Services provide activities based on individual desires, needs, and strengths. One of the main goals of The Arc's program is to support community integration and provide exciting experiences in the community for all the men and women in the program.
What happens during the day?
Three of the program locations offer a paid vocational component. Individual pay rates are based on a time study of each person's work. The other focus activities at these locations are physical fitness and arts training. Men and women utilize in-house exercise equipment and local community centers to maintain fitness. Arts projects, dramatic presentations, and choir activities all cater to the strengths and desires of the people in the programs. Through partnerships with the Maryland-National Capitol Parks & Planning Commission (M-NCPPC) and local businesses, program participants go on small group outings that occur daily and offer rich community experiences.
Medical Supports:
The fourth Day Support Program, Bridges at Largo, supports people with significant medical needs. Two full-time nurses care for participants' medical needs while a creative and caring staff provides activities that encourage physical exercise, enhance self-awareness, and promote social interaction.
How do I get services?
All applicants must be approved to receive services from the Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA) or have other means to pay for services. For more information about The Arc's Day Support Services, contact Donna Mason at dmason@thearcofpgc.org or 301-925-7050, ext. 269.
